Weatherman Walking in mid Wales

It seems like only the blink of an eye I was telling you about the new series of Weatherman Walking starting again, and here we are at the final episode of the season already.

Tune in on Monday to see a really gorgeous episode where we were filming in mid Wales. After meeting Derek, we part ways for a while and I take a trip to the intimate but extremely important site of Strata Florida Abbey.

Here I speak to one of my former Cadw colleagues Louise about just how important this quiet and ruined site once was. It really is a hidden gem, off the beaten track, but a visit is rewarded with graves of Welsh princes, important literary history, the most spectacular architecture and beautifully designed floor tiles. It’s an unusual mix between the Celtic and Christian styles, and really is worth the trip.

Whilst there, I pop next door to see the Strata Florida Archaeology Field School, who are doing some really fascinating research and conservation.

The lovely Jonny Cotsen also joins us in this episode of Weatherman Walking, and meets military veterans who are being inspired and helped through art.

Later in the show, Derek and I meet back up at the Elan Valley – wow, what a place! We swap stories and meet lots of other people enjoying the area.
