Welsh Women
Another exciting week this week, as on World Book Day, just in time for International Women’s Day, I launched a book I’ve been working on all about amazing Welsh women past and present. And it all started when I found out about some amazing women lost in the depths of time from Beaumaris Castle (see my blog post ‘Who runs the medieval world? Girls!‘)

On International Women’s Day, I try to raise awareness of some of the amazing women that often don’t make it into our history books. Today, I want to send out the message about being brave. I had to make a massive decision this week, and someone’s advice to ‘be brave’ resonated with me and ultimitely helped me to make up my mind. And we can learn so much from women in history who have done amazing things despite being told that they can’t. Just ordinary women doing extraordinary things.
This also helped me push myself and, after 30+ years of learning on and off, I recorded my very first video in Welsh as well as English. I’m really proud of myself for giving it a go. So, my message today – to anyone, anywhere – is to be brave. Give it a go. And if it doesn’t work? It’s not failure, it’s learning. It’s what makes you into the person you ultimately become.
