Tune in to BBC Radio Wales THIS SATURDAY at 1.30pm to hear the first episode of Rockin’ The Gogs!
This new BBC Radio Wales series, presented by Gareth ‘Gaz Top’ Jones, explores iconic rock music venues of north Wales.
On Saturday 3rd September 2016, the Rockin the Gogs Premiere features The Dixieland Showbar on Colwyn Bay Pier.
As ‘Rockin’ the Gogs Historian’, I go right back to the beginnings to tell the story of how this venue, which has hosted Motorhead, Madness and Elvis Costello to name but a few, grew from a time before holidays beside the seaside even existed.
Next week, on Saturday 10th September, 1.30pm on BBC Radio Wales, tune in to hear all about The Tivoli Nightclub, or ‘The Tiv’, in Buckley. The town is actually world famous for its pottery, but in the north Wales rock scene The Tiv is legendary in its own right (and I should know!).
If you can’t catch the show live, or can’t pick up Welsh radio, you can find all of the details including repeats and a stream of the show following its live broadcast at the BBC iPlayer website:
Alternatively, switch your TV to Sky channel 0117, Freesat 714 or Virgin Media 931 to hear it all live on your telly!
